Dr. Dimitrios Emiris (Dipl. Eng., M.Sc., Ph.D.) was born in Athens in 1965. In 1987, he received the Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). He obtained the M.Sc. and the Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, in 1988 and 1991, respectively, both from the University of Rochester, NY, USA. He is currently a Professor at the Department of Industrial Management and Technology, University of Piraeus. His research interests include project and production management, supply chain management, revenue management, as well as automated industrial systems. He has published over 120 articles in refereed journals and conferences in these areas. He is the author of two books, one in Project Management and one in Robotics. He has participated in several large projects including, shutdown and turnaround, telecom and maintenance projects and has consulted listed firms on how to integrate Project Management in their organizational structure. He has also been actively involved in the consultation of large firms in supply chain management optimization, business process design and reengineering, and ERP selection and installation projects, with emphasis on the supply chain components. Dr. Emiris has a broad training experience in both academic and professional context, both in traditional and e‑ learning mode. Since 2008, he is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®).
